Keeping your distance is the best way to prevent people being injured by electricity.  When a task requires a worker to be within reach or falling distance of 50 volts or more, the worker must be protected by properly rated insulating material such as rubber gloves, blankets, etc.  Anyone not trained in the recognition of energized conductors and voltage levels must stay back at least 10 feet for their safety.  In every case workers should make every attempt to turn power off and ground the conductor using the proper methods.
